Pension increments serve to link accrued pension entitlements to the rise in prices and possibly wages. PNO Media applies a conditional pension increment (indexation) policy. Past increments and/or forecasts for years to come do not automatically entitle you to future increments. Each year, based on the financial position of the fund and the actual inflation figures, the PNO Media Board decides on whether or not pensions are incremented and the level thereof.
Current increment policy
The increment policy is laid down in chapter 14 of the
PNO Pension regulations. The increment policy is further explained below.
Current ambition level
Price inflation serves as the ambition level for
former participants and
persons entitled to a pension. The ambition level for participants is wage inflation.
The wage inflation ambition is split into two parts: the first part is increments on the basis of price inflation; this part of increments is equal for all groups and therefore referred to as 'ordinary' pension increments in the pension regulations. Ordinary pension increments are supplemented up to the wage inflation level via additional increments for participants (the second part of increments for participants). This division is made as financing for ordinary pension increments and that for additional increments differ.
Figure 1 (pdf) shows the breakdown in ambition level for participants. The rules for ordinary pension increments are explained below, followed by the rules for additional increments.
Rules for ordinary pension increments for (former) participants and persons entitled to a pensionRules for additional pension increments for participants only Overview of arrears in pension increments
Each year, PNO Media Pension Fund endeavours to increase your accrued pension. It is not possible to fulfil our ambition each year, causing arrears. Since the ambition level for
former participants and
persons entitled to a person is different to that for
participants, an overview per target group is listed below.

We use a so-called 'increment (indexation) label' to show how your pension is expected to grow with inflation in the years to come. As such it provides a projection on future expectations in terms of your increments. The increment label is therefore an indication of the quality of increments. The label is by no means an indication of the quality of the pension scheme as a whole. In addition, the increment label does not provide a guarantee for annual increments. A different increment label applies to former participants and persons entitled to a pension than to participants.
